Sailing with kids – Clothing

The choice of lines is wide – from a more formal experience to one that is informal.  Here’s some stuff you might find useful when planning your cruise.

Dress Code. The younger the child, the less likely it is for them to need to adhere to the dress code.  Babies are more or less exempt – but toddlers and children don’t need to wear anything more than trousers and a collared shirt on formal nights.  Of course, there is no dress code for the kids clubs.

Footwear. The synthetic covering on modern ships’ decks can get incredibly hot in the summer sun (as can teak).  Take some easy-on footwear for around the pool.

Shade. The sun is much stronger at sea, and due to sea breezes parasols are not as available as you’d find around a pool on a land based holiday. There are of course shady areas around the edges of the pool decks.
